Planning a guided fly fishing trip in Bozeman? Rising Trout Fly Fishing Outfitters offers full-day and half-day trips on the Madison, Gallatin, Yellowstone and other Southwest Montana waters.
Our guide rates are priced per boat for one or two anglers and include rods, reels, flies, terminal tackle, non-alcoholic beverages and professional instruction. Full-day trips also include a streamside lunch.
Montana Fly Fishing Guide Trip Options and Rates
Full-Day Guided Fly Fishing Trip — $700
$700 per boat for 1–2 anglers
Approximately 6–8 hours
Float, walk-wade and hybrid options
A full-day trip gives us plenty of time to settle into the fishing, cover water and adjust as conditions change throughout the day. Depending on the river, season and your goals, full days may be spent floating, walk-wading or combining both.
Full-day trips are a great choice for anglers who want the complete Montana fly fishing experience, whether you’re brand new to fly fishing or have been doing it for years.

Not Included: Montana fishing licenses and guide gratuity. A gratuity of around 20% is customary for your guide.
Half-Day Guided Fly Fishing Trip — $600
$600 per boat for 1–2 anglers

Float and walk-wade options
Half-day trips are a great option if you’re short on time, traveling with younger anglers, trying fly fishing for the first time or simply want a shorter morning or afternoon on the water.
Depending on river conditions and the time of year, we’ll choose the water and fishing style that gives you the best opportunity to make the most of your four hours.
Half-Day Trips Include: Rods, reels, flies and terminal tackle, Non-alcoholic beverages, Professional instruction
Not Included: Montana fishing licenses and guide gratuity. A gratuity of around 20% is customary for your guide.
Missouri River Guided Fly Fishing Trip — $750
$750 per boat for 1–2 anglers
Two-day minimum
The Missouri River near Craig and Cascade offers a different style of Montana fly fishing, with high trout numbers, technical dry-fly opportunities, productive nymphing and consistent tailwater conditions.
Because of the additional travel and logistics from Bozeman, Missouri River guide trips require a two-day minimum.
Off Season Winter Guide Trips - $650 (November 1st - Feb 28th)
$650 per trip | 1–2 Anglers | 4–5 Hours on the Water
Our winter and off-season guided trips are designed around the shorter days and changing conditions. We typically plan for 4–5 hours on the water, with later morning starts to take advantage of the warmer parts of the day. Depending on weather and river conditions, we offer both float trips and walk-and-wade opportunities on some of our favorite local waters.
What's Included: Professional fly fishing guide and personalized instruction, 4–5 hours of guided fishing for 1–2 anglers, Fly rods, reels, flies, and terminal tackle, Streamside lunch and non-alcoholic beverages, Float or walk-and-wade fishing, depending on conditions.
Please Note: Montana fishing licenses, guide gratuities, and waders or boots are not included. Winter trips are weather-dependent, and we may need to adjust schedules or locations to ensure a safe and enjoyable day on the water.

Montana weather can change quickly, even in the middle of summer. We recommend bringing layers, a rain jacket, polarized sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen and comfortable footwear. What you’ll need can also vary depending on the season and whether you’re floating or wading.

What’s Included — and What’s Not
We provide the fishing gear you’ll need for the day, including rods, reels, flies and terminal tackle, along with non-alcoholic beverages and professional instruction. Full-day trips also include a streamside lunch.
Montana fishing licenses and guide gratuity are not included. Waders and boots are also not provided, although they generally aren’t necessary for most float trips. If you’re planning a walk-wade trip or there is inclement weather, we’re happy to help you figure out gear and rentals you’ll need ahead of time.

Not every guided fly fishing trip has to look the same. Depending on the river, conditions and what you want out of your day, we offer traditional float trips, walk-wade trips and hybrid trips that use the boat to access productive areas before getting out to fish.

Rivers We Guide Near Bozeman, Montana
Most of our Bozeman fly fishing trips take place on the Madison, Gallatin, and Yellowstone Rivers, with additional options on the Missouri River, spring creeks, private water, lakes, and smaller local waters depending on the season. We choose the river each day based on flows, clarity, weather, hatches, and your goals.

The Missouri River is a great option for anglers looking for a different style of Montana fly fishing, with strong trout numbers, technical dry fly opportunities, productive nymphing, and consistent tailwater fishing throughout much of the season. Because of the extra travel time from Bozeman, Missouri River trips are typically booked as full-day trips and requires a two-day minimum depending on availability and season.
We also guide select local creeks, smaller rivers, spring creeks, private water, and lakes around Southwest Montana. These trips can be a great fit for anglers looking for a quieter experience, walk-wade fishing, beginner-friendly water, or a more custom day based on season, weather, and current river conditions.

We’re a locally owned and operated outfitter based in Bozeman, Montana, and we spend our season on the Madison, Gallatin, and Yellowstone Rivers. That local knowledge matters. River conditions, flows, hatches, and weather can change quickly in Southwest Montana, and knowing where to be — and how to fish it — is key to a successful day.
Each trip we run is built around you and what you want out of the day. If you’re new to fly fishing, we’ll slow things down, keep it simple, and walk you through everything step by step. If you’ve spent time on the water, we’ll cover ground, dial in the right approach, and focus on putting you on quality fish. Either way, we adjust the game plan as conditions change so you get the most out of your day.
Deposits, Payments & Cancelation Policy
Deposits & Payments
• A 50% deposit is required for all trips booked more than 30 days in advance.
• The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 14 days prior to your trip.
• Trips booked within 30 days of the trip date require full payment at the time of booking.
Cancellations & Refunds
• Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the trip will receive a full refund.
• Cancellations within 30 days of the trip date will forfeit the 50% deposit.
• Cancellations within 14 days of the trip date are non-refundable and will be charged the full price of the guide trip.
***All refunds to credit cards are subject to a 5% processing/service fee.
Large Group Bookings (8+ Anglers)
Large group reservations (8 or more anglers) require full payment of the total trip cost at the time of booking when secured more than 60 days in advance. All large group bookings are non-refundable within 60 days of the first day of the scheduled trip.
Our cancellation policy is firm and applies to all cancellation reasons, including unforeseen circumstances and last-minute travel delays. This includes cancellations due to travel changes, personal emergencies, illness, or other life events. Changes in travel plans, weather variations, or itinerary adjustments do not automatically qualify for a refund outside of our standard cancellation terms.
We reserve the right to issue refunds on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion.
Montana weather and water conditions can vary widely. We do not cancel or refund trips due to inclement weather such as rain, wind, snow, smoky air, or normal river fluctuations. Trips operate in safe and fishable conditions whenever possible.
Full refunds will be issued if Rising Trout Fly Fishing Outfitters must cancel a trip due to unsafe weather, hazardous river conditions, guide illness, or other circumstances that make it unsafe or impossible to operate. If rescheduling is not feasible, a full refund will be provided.
Travel Insurance
We recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip investment. Unexpected events—like flight cancellations, illness, or weather delays—can happen, and travel insurance offers peace of mind if plans change. Rising Trout Fly Fishing Outfitters is not responsible for losses or expenses due to trip interruptions, cancellations, or delays.
